Based on history the CCP won't care what happens to it's own population and the mess they create. All they care about is the survival of the Chinese Communist Party. The CCP will make sure any "mess" won't affect the lives of CCP members!
It wasn't that long ago China under Mao was much like Nth Korea is now. Perceived dissidents or threats were/are swiftly dealt with and the population is kept under tight control helped along with plenty of propaganda about the nasty violent West.
Internet etc has been a real boon for them. Now they can monitor, control and spread propaganda easily throughout the entire population.
