Dont kid yourself...the Chief US enemy post WW2 is Communism: -Korean War -Vietnam War -Anti-USSR invasion of Afghanistan -Skirmishes/propping up RW dictators in Africa & S/America etc etc.
Ike quite rightfully said in the 1950s that the US was ruled by the Military/Industrial Complex where the Industrialists are Capitalists with global reach/aspirational global reach.
IMO, Taiwn is merely an opportunity for: -a proxy way with Communist China using the Tawanese as Cannon Fodder & Taiwan as a stepping stone into China.
The US containment of China is in full swing and we have been roped-in which is tantamount to economically shooting ourselves in the foot.
The US plays the war Game of; -Fighting on others' territories -roping-in its allies (with no economic benefit -US Military/Industrial Complex economically benefits

So while all that is happening/happened in the background, Freedon & Democracy is being spruiked by the US Propaganda Machine so that the Plebs dont say "me too" and claima cut of the loot!!!
