You are quite correct. There has been a lot of legislature in recent years that receded too much to the President and away from the legislative branch. Tax changes are meant to come from Congress, up to the Senate and across the President's desk. Its in exactly the reverse process of late. Whilst Senate members have upheld a vote against the Presidency emergency powers on Canada tariffs, Trump's mini-me pal Mike Johnson has effectively shelved it by normal procedure. There are rumblings of a shift however:
This crap is madness. Most people haven't the faintest idea that the tariffs quoted them from overseas to the US are absolute bouder-dash.
The USA electorate in its ignorance, if not intention, does seem intent on rather stupidly blowing up the very notions of free trade and liberalisation it has preached to others globally for 80 years.
