Funny you should say that Ditto.., was thinking the same last night. Such a massive financial outlay for the country that gets the 'honours' to hold the games, and for what...so that one country can inflate their national ego against others at a recently mentioned cost of $10 million per gold medal won. Childish, ape-like psychology imo. Like housing markets,just turns out to be a function of how much money gets spent.
Alongside the above,we have the IOC,riddled with ongoing cronyism and associated corruption,large corporates taking away from what is proclaimed as 'the people's games' and for the first time since Hitler's 1936 Games military involvement in security on home soil...grrrr.
