China's economic growth this year is likely to come in at 7.6 per cent, above the government's 7.5 per cent target, Xinhua News Agency says, citing a report by the State Council, or the cabinet.

The government gave the estimate in a midterm evaluation report on the implementation of its 12th five-year plan, Xinhua said. Growth has been higher than expected since 2011 despite a declining trend, the official news agency said, citing the report.

China's gross domestic product reversed a two-quarter slowdown in the July-September period from a year earlier, as Premier Li Keqiang spurred factory output and investment in the world's second-largest economy to meet the growth target.
