rab things are worse than we are led to believe imho.

china last week pulled out 10000 tonnes of pork from its stockpile to auction off to the public. prior to that they released over 200000 tonnes of pork

china is the biggest pork consumer in the world.

meanwhile in the us the chinese, (hong kong but we really dont know if the ccp has anything to do with it), bought food supply companies the biggest being smithfield which supplied several million tonnes of pork annually.

so covid hit and now the governor of virginia sent in the troops (national guard which at the same time was federalised, meaning they now answer to the commander in chief rather than the state governor) to clean the facilities. the reason being that many in the factory contacted covid - at least 47.

now it appears that the chinese owners went to smithfield after trump closed flights from china. maybe they flew in from hiong kong i dont know. the plant in south dakota had 238 employees with corona

so now a meat plant in australia has some workers being tested positive.

with plants shutting down all over the world this will obviously have an effect on the food supply in general. what is troubling tho is the ease with which these can be closed down due to someone testing positive. especially if china has any ownership.

my concern is that we do not have a national emergency strategy if events like this happen. china has a backup for everything and a ready supply when tshtf. what does australia have? sfa. another concern is the possibility that an enemy can so easily send in infected people to a food plant and bring the whole thing down. especially if its chinese owned. imho our food supply is sacrosanct and should be strictly limited to australian ownership or at least close allies.

    this applies to poultry also.

yes the current situation will blow over but it may not the next time. these events clearly demonstrate our shortfall, weaknesses in food production and fuel reserves.

now we have a plague of locusts starting to run amock

the government and the public service has been left wide open to their lack of foresight and their inability to plan.
