banjar, If we're now going to expand this thread to include the whole world, no I don't like the US subsidies, and for that matter the European Union does it just as much if not more.
It seems to me that Australian government has no problem dismantling our tariffs and allowing foreign investment but other countries aren't doing the same.
It is impossible for us to compete in manufacturing when our opponents don't follow safety, environmental or quality standards, or allow their economies to be opened up like ours.
It's a double standard, hence the original posting.
The Chinese want to buy our ore cheaply, then flog it back to us in goods we cannot manufacture ourselves because our hands are tied behind our back.
