Seems hawkish People's Liberation Army generals agree with me. Two generals are calling for policy re-evaluation and warned against "serious mistakes". This is pretty significant. Up till now Xi Jinping had little internal opposition of worth. Now influential members of the army are saying, "Hang on, why are we picking so many fights with so many countries?"
It seems hard line military figures are worried whether China has overreached. They're calling for a return to the low-profile policy of Deng Xiaoping when China began emerging from the post-Mao era in the early 1980s, of "hiding its strength, and biding its time". Xi Jinping's "wolf warrior" diplomacy and aggression is causing concern.
