Thanks for posting the article. Am really surprised that there have been no comments, so I'll give it a go.
Imo this Act just passed by the House of Reps may in retrospect be one of the historical documents of Western Industrial Society as we have known it, and for two momentous reasons.
The most obvious is that by empowering “Chinese policing authorities the right to act as law enforcement officers in the United States” it may be seen in hindsight as the definitive point at which China breached the dam wall of America’s global economic and political dominance. With China having such a strangle-hold on the US economy (because of the US needing Chinese finance to avoid total economic collapse) one would imagine this is only the beginning. One also can’t help but wonder whether there is any coincidence with recent legislation (passed in 2006?), which allows for the first time in US history, the use of the US military against US citizens on US soil, and the September 08 recall of the US Army Third Infantry Division from Iraq for civil-support missions (including training in non-lethal control technologies), which again is a historical first. And will these restraints be needed when the US population suddenly realises what it's government has visited upon it?
Perhaps the not so obvious reason is that it may be the end (and would love to hear others’ views on this) of the movement towards the pursuit by the western elite (but of course the desire for world domination by the Chinese government, according to some, is alive and well) of a ‘one world government’. I say this because Zbigniew Brzezinski has been one of the most powerful influences for a ‘one world government”, eg he was one of the founders of Trilateral Commission, the CFR, a regular speaker at the Bilderberg Conference, and is now the adviser for future Vice President of the United States - Barack Obama. In his book (1997) “The Grand Chessboard” he said that there were two major obstacles to the use of American Imperialism to create a global government under United Nations control.
The first was the emergence of a competing power, and we have seen the US use military force to subjugate any competition, including the current attempted strangulation of Russia. But the Chinese have used quiet economic stealth to achieve this supremacy by now having the US dependant on their financial input. And they have succeeded in achieving this by actually generating and taking gain from the second major obstacle; hedonism within the general US population.
In this respect Chinese finance has allowed the American consumer to compulsively consume everything and anything that has contributed to a life of thoughtless indulgent comfort, but which has concurrently provided the momentum for burgeoning Chinese economic growth.
Some Chinese chap in the ‘Art of War’ (?) wrote something like ‘keep your friends close and your enemies closer’. The Chinese may have done this perfection?
So will these circumstances provide a vastly different road map into the future for Western industrial society? Only time will tell, but imo these recent events now show the winding road is not heading in the direction that many thought it would.
Cheers
