I'd say it would be illegal. Its no different to high grade handbag knock offs. That is the Chinese mentality; learn- copy, and do a bloody horrible job at doing so. Years ago, atleast 15 years ago, I found a whole heap (over 200) of instruments on ebay from a Chinese seller, they were all fender/ gibson copies selling cheap. I bought the lot and left negative feedback on all of them (did not pay of course). In saying that though, I have a blueridge acc/elec which is a brand licensed to build in China from the USA. It;s of extremely good quality and sounds no different to a Martin d18 (and is a copy of one).
