Your post reflects the heading title (US wishful thinking) rather than recognise China's economic achievements over the past decade; so much so that the US has to institute Mercantilist Policies against China in much the same way that the British Empire invoked such Merchantilist policies over 100 years ago during its demise.
The Chinese economy is a hybrid ..ie: about half private enterprise and half State Capitalism with a transition towards private property .
