I just think that your descriptive prose regarding China is far too optimistic
I fully agree that they have made big strides but that was the easy bit

For a dictatorship to take people who have nothing and set them on the path to prosperity is simple
But now they have to loosen the bonds so that the people can make use of that prosperity and as with Hongkong & Taiwan they are unable to do that

The really hard part is coming as there has never been a successful Communist run government in the world, they are all restrictive dictatorships, which are unable to perform to the extent that is needed to be fully successful
