THE K2 billion Ramu nickel and cobalt project in Madang has been described as a milestone under the bilateral economic and trade relations between China and Papua New Guinea. Chinese Ambassador to PNG, Liu Zhengjun said the signing of the agreement with the Metallurgical Construction Corporation of China last week to develop the nickel cobalt project will further boost economic co-operation between the two countries. "The construction of Ramu Nickel Mine is a huge undertaking … and the investment of China's MCC will be at least US$650 million," he said. Mr Zhengjun made this statement at the 37th graduation ceremony for the University of Technology in Lae on Friday where more than 600 students graduated with degrees, diplomas and certificates in various professional technical courses offered at the university.
