    • 2 batches of registered Chinese infant formula milk powder failed sampling inspection conducted by SAMR. One batch tested positive for enterobacter sakazakii.
On Mar. 7, 2019, China SAMR announced the domestic sampling inspection result of 2,936 batches of food products. 2 batches of infant formula food failed the inspection [1].

A batch of “Meijia” infant formula milk powder (stage 1) manufactured by Heilongjiang Nongken Yingbohuawei Dairy Co.,Ltd. tested positive for enterobacter sakazakii. This pathogen is associated with adverse outcomes in neonates, preterm neonates and immunocompromised infants and can cause sepsis, meningitis and necrotizing enterocolitis. GB 10765-2010 stipulates enterobacter sakazakii cannot be detected in infant formula food targeted at infants of 0-6 months.

China’s government has zero tolerance on infant formula which tests positive for enterobacter sakazakii.

On May 12, 2016, a batch of Holle organic milk powder produced by Agrana Strke GmbH (Austria) was found to contain enterobacter sakazakii[2]. Its CNCA qualification was immediately suspended 4 days later, and this enterprise was removed from CNCA approval list on Jan. 1st, 2019.

Additionally, “Jingjia Baby” infant formula milk powder (stage 1) produced by Jiangxi Renzhichu Dairy Nutrition Limited was tested to have a chlorine concentration below the minimum stipulated concentration specified in the standard. Inadequate addition as well as loss during production and transportation are the leading factors for nutrient content non-compliance.
