Two more logs to throw on the fire:
1 Why would Beijing allow them to invest in a project that is so competitive with Chinese interests unless it was to gain some control? Even local Chinese media in Australia is under financial pressure to tow the party line let alone these guys.
2 Their interest is not in making profits: they have made 2 capping efforts now and those are so far apart in time that if they were trying to make money by investing in TNG these actions just wouldn't make any sense.
