You do realize this is a close up picture of the tailings pond? Tailings ponds never look good at any mine. Mt Weld won't look much different close up in a year or two imo.
If you look at the Google Earth picture that mine is in the middle of nowhere and does not look atypical of any operating mine anywhere in the world imo.
