The Americans can subsidise Molycorp if they want. A bit unrealistic to expect a govt to wade into domestic Malaysian politics, especially an American one - imagine the furor.
IMO, the CR could have been better if it had a record date for retailers on the day of announcement at a reasonable discount of the VWAP of the previous week. A forward looking price is bound to get played with (by retailers).
