Could the bid be helping to focus potential JV partners in that a JV partner could of been thinking why not just take it over?

Now they look at the takeover option and see a messy fight with no certainty of the price they'll end up paying? Hanlong could be putting the offer on the table to help management get a deal done?

Thus maximising their return with lest amount of time resources put into it?
