Brinkmanship is one thing, but most Western companies are not owned by their Govt and do not have the ability to call in the Spooks and arrest the other party if negotiations don't go their way.
Just imagine what would have happened if the Chinese did get their tentacles into our resources and a disagreement cropped up a few years down the track...
Would we see the Chinese navy parking up just off Geraldton?
