Morning Chippers,
Some rough calculations on chips per 300mm diameter silicone wafer.
My original calculations were working on the chiplet size being 15mm x 15mm = roughly 240 chips per 300mm silicone wafer x 6 wafers per shuttle = 1440 chips.
Having recently seen that the total finnished AKIDA 1000 Chip actually fits inside the diameter of a ten cent coin & having had a look at a physical chip construction / assembly, I have re drawn a 300mm diameter wafer and gridded at what I belive would be the biggest chiplet size under the metal cover of our AKIDA 1000 chip.
I am thinking no larger than 9mm x 9mm for the chiplet.
So on a 300mm dia. Wafer = 648 chiplets.
* This is after taking out the partial chips around the circumference & allowing 1mm for cut between chips.
648 chips X 6 wafers per shuttle = 3888 chips.
Cost per wafer roughly $2860 plus 20% ( rise in cost of production) = $3432 per wafer x 6 wafers = $20592.
= $9.70 USD per chip cost.
Going from 15mm x 15mm to 9mm x 9mm in size
= 2448 extra chips.
= or a extra 170% yield.
Keep in mind this is all rough calculations and the actual chiplet s could be smaller again.
Interesting I thought.
Regards,
Esq.
