"Totally agree. But you need to do a lot of research and cope with the stress.

I invested almost $400k on a spec - it was not a sudden investment; more of a number of decisions over a period of 2 years, as I became more and more confident in the Management team and its ability to find oil and gas.

It did. It was one of the biggest discoveries in the last 30 years, and the share price went up 600% in a matter of months.

Unfortunately, I was not smart enough to take profits at the top.

When I did, it was only 280% gain.

Lesson learnt (expensive one): Not Only do you need the confidence to back your investment decision, you also need to make the right judgement call on when to take profits or in some cases, cut your losses.
