    I'm very retrictive on lipds & the only intake of other oils in my diet is Extra Virgin olive oil & i only cook it at very low temperatures never above 180c. Omega 6 is very low & only in the natural balance.

    You make good points though and ALA conversion can vary greatly between individuals based on many factors general health, saurated fat, alcohol, diet but there has been several studies done to show the highest rates & circumstances for best conversion rates - a great book by Udo Erasmus - 'Fats that Heal, Fats that Kill' has one of the best calculations. This is the reason for 9 months on high does fish oil - 6,000mg of combined EPA/DHA to build up tissue levels before the transition to flaxseed oil.

    As i've mentioned though my intake of omega 3's & diet is not for heart disease as many mentioned here but for a CNS dis-ease where there is much evidence for its benefits.
