G8 Education chairman Jenny Hutson revealed her extraordinary web of friends, family and business associates during G8’s failed bid for Affinity Education.
But when her mates showed their loyalty by buying shares in Affinity and rapidly accepting an inferior bid from G8, Hutson ended up in hot water with an unacceptable conduct finding by the Takeovers Panel against G8 and “parties alleged to be associated with G8”. The panel found Affinity share purchases by Hutson’s contacts did not take place in an efficient, competitive and informed market.
Hutson later apologised and, separate to that, resigned from the G8 board.
