No, not ridiculous at all. Not all decisions are to be based purely on economics!

No one would overcapitalise a rental property but I'm sure we have probably all over spent to make a house more of a home.

Backyard chooks are a feel good item and indeed a selling asset to a particular market (had a chook run down the backyard where I grew up).
