Too true trashcan although I am only 42 this year and have seen the mining boom first hand, I have never taken it for granted.
One only has to fly in and out of Perth all the time as I do to see the girlfriends and husbands etc picking up their partners in flash cars, all owned by the banks of course, to see that all is not as it seems even over here in WA.
Lots of people here exibit the trappings of wealth but scratch under the surface and there are huge amounts still living from week to week.
