As I am sure you are acutely aware John 1:1 provides more confusion than enlightenment going on the debate on this forum of that verse.

And to be straight up, the confusion you mention, never ceases to amaze me, as in the likes of What the..........lol.

Even from the Greek meaning of Logos today, it's means as much as, thought, plan, reasoning as it does, words expressed.
You simply cannot have the latter without the former.

In Beginning was the Word = Eph 3:9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid inGod, who created all.-> (Isa 44:24 Alone, by himself).

The Jesus to be, was the first of God's plans (Inner logos), hence in that context, Jesus was the beginning of the creation of God Rev 3:14, and the same context, the firstborn of creation Col 1:5, in the mind and plans of God, known as Logos and Glory.

Like your logos, your creation begins in you, just ask an architect,...it's also the foundation.

As well as a Jesus to be, more of the Word in the beginning was for, covered creation and this plan is shown to have been expressed via John 1:3 and it was Not Jesus that expressed this plan into being.
Which he would need to be, if one insist on him being the Word.

At 1:4, John's book reverts back to the likes of Eph 3:9 = In Him (God) life was.... = Eph 3:9, the hidden mystery IN Him.

People totally ignore Mal 3:1, John the Baptist would at first be making the path straight for God and Not Jesus.
THEN there would be the SUDDEN appearance of Jesus.
John's first 13 verses are ALL about the Almighty God and Father and then, lo and behold, the sudden appearance, mention of Jesus for the first time at John 1:14.

The Eph 3:9 plan, part of the Word, big part = 1:14 And the Word (part of) Flesh became........
And much, much more of the Word came in Jesus, the Temple.
He tells us this around 4 times, just in John.

He also tells us, those words he was given, are Spirit and according to the Bible, Jesus is not a spirit.
Man = body, soul and spirit.
    ---------

Yes, the Word is alive and kicking in the world but is causing more confusion than enlightenment. Maybe the fault lies more with the numerous fan clubs each vying for dominance.

I wasn't mentioning part of the above or limiting it to just the Biblical subject.
Word in every day life causes all sorts, to the point that some sadly, even take their lives, facebook, twitter etc etc.
And with all the latest tech etc, the problems and the goods, are growing at a very fast rate.
in fact, bringing up, raising the latest generations etc.
