D12, "So EVERY SINGLE PERSON EVER CRUCIFIED TOOK A LONG TIME TO DIE?"
Well no. Look, I haven't said that Jesus didn't die on the cross - just that there is a lot of evidence that he might not of. But the typical time was two to five days. Not six to nine hours. That would be an unusual length of time.
As for the scourging, I thought we were sticking to biblical fact. The bible doesn't state how much any of them were scourged. We don't know.
What we do know is that John 19:17 tells us he DID carry his cross, which according to you is proof that he wasn't scourged too badly ......
As for Jesus appearing to be dead, we still make mistakes today with all our technology and think people are dead when they are not.
Now, your quote from the NIV shows how wrong wesr is in his assertion that it doesn't matter which translation you use. The NIV is a particularly poor translation in many areas, and this is a typical example. If you go back to the greek it is clear that the face cloth had been rolled up by itself and moved to a separate place.
As for his recovery, check out the healing properties of myrrh and aloe, with which he was drenched.
