Big mistake to take Macb as not being smart. However you are right "There is a bigger game afoot"
They have a plan, and part of that plan was to gain access to the CTP information. the analogy may be made between the visit by the Japanese Ambassador in the USA, stating we want peace when at the time the planes had been launched against Pearl Harbour.
Always expect the unexpected. Mac B have a plan and we are part of it, the only question is HOW MUCH will they (Or a kindred spirit) eventually have to pay.
