re: thnooka -have you in mind One of the more frightening aspects of human nature is a tendency to gravitate towards 'US' as against 'THEM' that then has this natural tendency to reach down the generations, leading to vendettas of frightening historical tenacity. Where labels are not provided to feed this divisiveness, people always step up to manufacture them. Thnooka’s favorite, Rachel Neuwirth, articulates many labels to be stamped on those of Jewish ancestry to define and separate those black sheep. As if it were not enough that people fasten belief-labels on even babies at birth, these badges of mental apartheid are now reinforced and refreshed even within the ancestry.
Imagine being saddled with this stuffed in the head, ethnocentrism.... but that's how playpens work. But is it just for comfort and security? There are all sorts of things that would be comforting. I expect an injection of morphine would be comforting... But to say that something is comforting is not to say that it's true.
I would say it has more to do with a lack of imaginative ....... plus throw in healthy dollops of indoctrination and rote learning.
