What you say is mostly true. You say, "They need to prove to the shareholders that they have indeed hit something, and something big."
I say they need to hit something worth hitting and the best way to do it is to very carefully identify each drill target. As PT says, a closely spaced gravity survey is the way to go. The prospect needs to be modeled in line with more developed prospects in the same geological province and a gravity survey is by far the best way to remotely sense deeply buried targets.
VMS has the largest known mineralised system in the Olympic Dam provence of the Gawler craton as well as a large farmed in area. I rate their chances of having an orebody there as very high. What they need to do is locate it. PT's report tells me they are going about the task in a way that gives them their best chance.
