Us miner Cliffs Natural Resources signalled it wants to expand it's Australian footprint.The miner said Australia was it's preferred location for bolt on aquisitions in coal but there were limited opportunities. It already has a 45% stake in Queenslands Sonoma coal mine, and iron ore operations at Koolyanobbing and Cockatoo Island in WA, which it is expanding.
" It's very difficult to get your hands on something in Australia, although we would love to," Cliffs chief financial officer Laurie Brias said.
