You are correct. Each year approx 25 tonnes of high enriched uranium sourced from decommissioned Russian nuclear warheads was downblended and sold to the US for use in their nuclear reactors. This is equivalent to 24 million pounds of U308 that can no longer be obtained from the secondary market, and must now be sourced from conventional primary mine production.
Which leaves a massive supply gap that needs must be filled pronto!
