Yesterday Citi published a news letter called Quantitative Focus with the heading Takeover Targets:
"? Stocks to Consider — Takeover candidates from the top 100 include Allco Finance Group, Centro Properties Group, Challenger Financial Group, Qantas Airways and ABC Learning Centres. While our “self-funding” screen does not take into account “blocking stakes”, it does provide a perspective on the value of such stakes."
In the published table, AFG rated as #1 as a potential takeover candidate based on a Quantitative Self Funding methodology. It quoted a maximum takeover premium payable & to still be self funding as 1028% (yest that's one thousand & twenty eight percent).
I'm not so sure about the size of the premium, but it DOES demonstrate the significant upside in AFG. I'd be thrilled at a 2>300% premium to current shareprice.
