I should know this but don't. Do CTO use jumbos or the likes or airleg mining? I feel that the Ballarat operation failed because bulk mining techniques dilute the ore too much. The Daisy Milano mine is the classic example, Perilya failed using jumbos but SLR have turned it into a real money spinner using airlegs. Hill End are in the early stages of similar airleg mining and are doing ok as well. And MCO at Woods Point are heading down the same path currently.
So it seems obvious that you can't bulk mine the majority of the narrow quartz vein systems but more selective airleg mining can be successful and profitable.
