City of Hope scientists use two powerful immunotherapies to eradicate solid tumors

My take on this is that CF33 has been modified to incorporate a form of CD19 which when injected has the cell express CD19 on the cell surface. When CD19 CAR-T cells are given at the same time they bind the CD19 on the cell surface and cause the tumour cells to die.

Of interest is that Axel Hoos has recently joined the board of TCR2 Therapeutics which has a market cap of around 600M US. They have a product called TC-110. It is described as being developed to improve upon and be less toxic than the current CD19-directed CAR T cell therapies.

City of Hope scientists use two powerful immunotherapies to eradicate solid tumors

In preclinical research that could lead to a clinical trial for patients with intractable solid tumors, City of Hope scientists genetically engineered an oncolytic virus to enter tumor cells and force their expression of CD19 protein on their cell surface. Scientists were then able to use CD19-directed CAR T cells to recognize and attack these solid tumors.
