Don't want to sound like a downer but I listened to Clover Moore give an interview about this plan around 3 months ago. What she described were nothing like our units. She said they were around the size of a shipping container, fuel cell run on gas and develop in excess of a 100kW. They would be located outdoors on top of commercial buildings primarily in the CBD where power usage is very high. Apparently there is at least one company in California (there could be more) producing units like these.
Still think the big potential over the last few days has been the unit installed in the Crest Nicholson home. Between 100,000 and 200,000 new builds each year in the UK and energy code for new houses changing substantially over the next few years, pick up just 10% of that market is more than 10,000 units a year.
