Clarke - I enjoy your succinct and very funny criticisms of some of these stories. By the way, that saw the crowd thing was an absolute stroke of genius. The messiah-complex was perfectly nailed (no tasteless pun intended).
Contrary to some who think the endless supply of lengthy best-case scenario fantasies needs to be refuted point by point, I find your short observations both more instructive and entertaining. To respond at length would un-necessarily dignify them and suit the purpose of the story-teller.
Sycophant-groomers are nauseating too, when they have profited with a timely bail - never mind if a burning martyr routine is thrown in from the exit for good measure.
Ironically, although left poorer, the ego-stroking involved seems to leave some of the victims satisfied - so go figure. Perhaps they are getting their money's worth after all?
