Ignacio Galan, who has spent the last 22 years transforming a sleepy Spanish coal-burning utility into a global renewables superpower called Iberdrola and plans to more than double, by up to $4.4 billion, its Australian investments in wind, solar and transmission through 2025.
Gas has ‘long life’ - In a wide-ranging interview, Mr Galan also predicted that gas “still has a long life” in supporting the future expansion of renewables and firming capacity. “The procedure for closing [coal] was much faster than the procedure for building [renewables].”
