    Hello again -
    It’s raining here .
    (not men )
    ....But apparently it’s just a front.
    (And yes I did spend half an hour watering the garden when the sun was out a while back .)

    But my real news is that,  whether or not it rains then,   next Tuesday week, October 6 IS the day the WA Budget with it’s $1.7B surplus [ref] will be handed down, so it may be ‘all fine’  around here ?

    Further news in respect to that  budget;
    WA’s new consulting/recommendation body,  ‘Infrastructure WA ‘ has already handed in  its’ first  pre budget strategy proposals towards a 10 year rolling state infrastructure  program.
    This will be reviewed then published by January 6 next year.
    ... And may give a clear line of sight on potential contracts for NRW ?

    Here is a link to the IWA discussion paper (which includes a nice picture of one of our favourite tunnels) and much more that may be of interest to some here towards determining NRW’s future prospects ...
    (Maybe it is what all those newly positive analysts were looking at?)

    [A Stronger Tomorrow State Infrastructure Strategy Discussion Paper June 2020]
    Includes;

    .... “Over the next 20 years, IWA expects the resources and energy sectors to remain the dominant export industries, along with a strong primary industries sector.
    IWA will seek to ensure the State Government’s infrastructure plans support these important, export focussed sectors as well as other priority sectors of the economy...”..

    ..... “Investment in infrastructure can help support increased regional activity and people’s decisions to reside near their place of work (rather than fly-in, fly-out).
    Infrastructure which builds public amenity and facilitates improved services can be attractive for people deciding to settle in the regions....
    Enhance infrastructure delivery and develop skills for the future
    The planning, design, procurement, construction, operation and maintenance of infrastructure provides significant direct and indirect employment opportunities.
    The type and scale of future skills and training needs must be assessed to ensure our ongoing capacity and capability to deliver and maintain infrastructure.
    The supply of skilled labour directly impacts the total cost of our infrastructure program as demonstrated during the most recent resources boom, where such shortages increased both public and private sector project costs and therefore impacted viability.........
    ..... A highly skilled, public and private sector workforce is critical to ensuring the appropriate delivery of infrastructure projects and to address technological innovation more broadly.
    Current pressures in specialised professions due to the large volume of rail and road projects nationally highlights the challenges in adequately preparing for and addressing skill shortages.”

    (Maybe our quarry training school will be a mega infrastructure ‘university’? )

    Here also  a couple of images from the paper;
    - explaining the new body:

    ..And looking at the proposed value of spend:
    (More than $2B a year in WA on road and rail until 2023!)
