Given the growing and acrimonious divide between Right & Left Politics
in Aus we have to think of some what-iffs

What-if Aus had a civil war?

    Don't laugh,
-Mother England & Big Brother USA had civil wars
    -History is pickled with them
-There are current armed struggles in Africa and elsewhere which are defacto Civil Warsjjjjjjjjj
-There are disturbances in Myanmar. Thailand , Hong Kong, Belarus etc that could readily lead to Civil War.
-In January this year the Trump supporters in Washington staged a dress jjjj for Civil War and that was
backed by a significant number of Aussies if we believe posts on these threads.jjj

In order to consider what might happen if there was a civil insurrection here, we have to consider who and by what
authority would be called on to suppress it by the sitting Government.

Our front line of defence is the armed forces whose Commander-in Chief is the Governor General who is a servant of QE2
In other words the UK Monarch has absolute power over our Armed Forces not Parliament.

jj Normally the GG takes the advice of his Ministers but of course a state
of emergency such as a Civil War is not normal circumstances and from history it is not clear if he would do so.
jjEven in a much less emergency, namely the Dismissal in 1975 , the then GG did not take the advice ofj his
Miinisters and instead went ahead and sacked them with the jjentire elected government

Given all that,jj should we be positioning Australia and Aussies generally for an uncertain 2021?
IMO, yes and Malcolm Turnbull set the ball rolling this morning by suggesting a fresh look at the Monarchy
and Australia's status as a Constitutional Monarchy rather than a Republic .

IMO, Turnbull timed his comment on this subject this morning to coincide with the adverse Palace press overnight.

IMO, those supporting the USA ,and in particuluar Trump, on these threads should have no issue with Australia emulating the US
Republican model and becoming a Republic too..eh?
