Let's not forget that Australia will also be benefitting from new battery manufacturing plants as well.

Readers should be aware that Sonnen, a HUGE battery maker based in Germany, announced earlier this year that will establish a battery production plant in Adelaide, creating 430 manufacturing and installation jobs. Sonnen also announced that it will produce 50,000 energy storage systems over the next five years.The company plans to sell its systems into the Australian market but also export, and will cover all the establishment costs with a policy not to accept government assistance.

Over in Western Australia, Kwinana has been chosen as the site of a lithium refinery, which is expected to run as a joint venture between Chilean lithium giant SQM and Kidman Resources. At the refinery, up to 200 jobs are expected to be created during construction and 180 full-time jobs in production.

It's about time that Australia was recognised as being a logical site for manufacturing of renewables, rather than being seen just as a "quarry pit" that exported raw minerals overseas- and let the receiver country manufacture it.
