A scenario not canvassed on this thread, but mentioned elsewhere is the possibility of RIO (and Itochu?) agreeing to the Chinese bid (or another higher offer if it were to emerge), on the condition that a JV with RIO was agreed upon.
This is not so good for the immediate share price. Why will this not happen?
