Just to add to your post. It was interesting what Tim Flannery (environmentalist and newly chosen Australian of the Year) had to say about nuclear power when interviewed by Kerry O'Brien the other night. His viewpoint is that Australia doesn't need nuclear power, but when it comes to Europe, the eastern seaboard of the USA and China, he cannot see any practical alternative to nuclear energy.
