You could do an off market transaction and sell your NET shares to your mum/wife/whoever for one cent. It is an administrative effort but would get you out of your problem.
That will enable you to offset the loss with any capital gain you have made. I hope that helps. It is sickening to think that the management of NET can so thoroughly destroy the savings of investors and just shut down and walk away their pathetic company.
