interesting, because the shareholders would argue they placed reliance on the 'good news stories' coming out from the management and the company announcements (presumably approved by the Board). seems a little circular, but I would say that shareholders could reasonably expect mgt/ board to be truthful - which puts the onus on mgt/ board to be honest rather on the shareholders to be overly investigative/ disbelieving.
