Shareholders are collectively the owners of the business. Shareholders elect the Directors, approve the powers of the directors eg. To appoint the executive who appoint the staff etc. Shareholders are the people ultimately in control of a company. Given shareholders have this power - if not shareholders, who do you think is ultimately responsible?

Owners of private unincorporated businesses are liable for debts of the business they own, eg sole traders, partnerships etc. Public companies (such as AJM) and incorporated private companies however benefit from this liability protection of being a “Limited” or Ltd company. So as AJM shareholders, no you’re not liable for the debts that your company has incurred. For that, you should be grateful to the creditors that have suffered those debts on your behalf.
