I guess the better measure is simply how many women are having implant reconstructions post mastectomy. You could probably get those figures from medicare.
There's obviously local flaps (lat dorsi), free flaps (which are done by the specialised plastic surgeons), and implant recons. So even of all the recons, its only a subsection that would use expanders anyway. Those options are the same in the US and AUS, so regardless of whether the implant recon is done by a general surgeon, or a plastic surgeon is pretty irrelevant in terms of demand. Don't really understand why they would be using the type of surgeon in the US vs AUS to explain demand for the product. The more important measure is how many women are getting implant recons, and what share AXP has got of that.
