    There has to be private property for capitalism to function. Even if the said capitalist has to pay rent to some landowner or feudal lord, the capitalist must have some kind of secure title to the tenancy. The capitalist needs the state or some type of mafia to enforce ownership over whatever it is that is being sold and to exclude those who don't pay.

    I keep getting a popup asking if I want ad free youtube, but I know that someone wants a payment for this product of ad free youtube. Does the owner of ad free youtube actually produce something, or is it more of a ransom note, like protection money? The price of a commodity in capitalism is it's ransom note. Those without ability to pay do not eat or have shelter from the weather. That is capitalism. If it were the law that everyone has a house, then the speculative value of a house would be zero. There would be no ransom note.
