An interesting article contained in a magazine in the "West" yesterday. Twiggy Forrest highlighted that the steel mills in both India and China are predominately in city areas. All these cities are under stress of air pollution and something has to give and fast. Of the billion tonnes of steel required, two billion tonnes of ore is required to be moved to the mills and two billion tonnes of coal has to be brought in, the waste removed. One billion tonnes of green steel can be brought in and then upgraded to the 40,000 different products with far less pollution and negligible waste.
