clean coal technology

i am a total novice, so please pardon my ignorance on this subject. i have heard a lot of talk about clean coal technology. are cxy, mee and lnc the only asx listed companies in australia reasearching into this. it seems john howards preferred option for our low emmission energy requirements and unlike other options, geothermal,uranium, wind, wave etc. most people have heard of clean coal technology, even though like me , they dont really understand what it is.
i am looking to invest as i think the money in the future will be in low emmission energy.
